The adventurous seaside visitor can follow the coastal paths and walks. Cyclists can enjoy marked cycleways and paths all along the riverside and coastline.

There is a selection of eating places nearby, from traditional fish and chips to pub and restaurant fare. The town centre is a 10-15 minute walk away, with a variety of shops and tri-weekly market.

There is also plenty of visitor attractions nearby such as the Bede's World, Arbeia Roman Fort, South Shields Museum, plus a little further afield there are major cultural attractions such as the SAGE Gateshead, Baltic, The Centre for Contemporary Art, Angel of the North, Beamish Museum and Hadrians Wall Country.
